July 10, 2009 Letter

What a crazy week! Good news! We got to watch the fireworks! Our 4th was a normal day and that made me a little sad b/c I love the 4th in Cedar... But then we had a special fireside that night about the reformers. Though REALLY cheesy, it was interesting. We are so lucky that they worked so hard to keep the bible going. So cool. Then we got to stay up "late"(10:45) and watch the fireworks. It was fun. We were all dressed in Red White and blue- Mom... can you look at JCPenny's and see if you can find the shirt I'm wearing in my 4th pics. It was Soeur Cockerham's and I LOVED it!

Sunday was nice. It was fast sunday so we had mission conference. We had a fireside from Brother and Sister Taylor... Well, her talk didn't make sense. I wish you could have heard it. It was very well intended but she talked about Peter Pan, Zambia,Cididles, prisons and Mission work. We really don't know what it was about. We tried to talk about it as a district and it was just too bizare. His talk was really good. He talked about how he had this amazing trainer. He was a wonderful person, studied the scriptures until midnight, woke up at 5 and studied. He was energetic and also wrote a wonderful letter home to Brother Taylor's parents. This trainer made a huge impact on his life and he knows that he is a better person for knowing him.... then, in the end, the tainer got "blown to pieces" in Vietnam... yeah... Bizare. I know that this isn't going to sound as weird to you, but it was seriously the weirdest thing ever.

Monday we stressful. Mom, you're right. I have made a lot of progress in French, but there are only 2 of us who have never taken french before and it's hard to not compare to the people who know what's going on. It's hard. Monday was a really rough day.

Tuesday was another fireside. It was really good. It was Elder Abrea of the 70. He was amazing. His wife was too. I got a cold on Tuesday.

Wednesday was long because I was really excited to leave the "compound." I was a little stressed all day from French, but then I went to Tutor and that helped. After tutor he told me I wasn't allowed to think about French for the next 2 hours, so Sister Andlin(Jake's mission pres's neice) and I went and got a Cello and a violin. It was the MOST AMAZING THING EVER. We just played for 45 min. But it was the best release. I was so happy after that. Thanks to everyone who suffered through my violin playing! If I would have given that up then I would have probably gone crazy on Wednesday. Mom... will you send me my shoulder rest? PLEASE?

Thursday was San Fran. I still had a cold but I HAD to go to San Fran or else I wouldn't have a Visa. So... There were 4 of us that went. Now, I am not the best world traveler and my companion was telling us about how she can navigate through New York- no prob "San fran won't even be a problem." She had us lost in about 23 seconds. I'd get us back on track(but made it seem like it was her b/c she gets really upset if she's corrected) and then she'd start to take charge again and then... I'd have to get us back on track. AH! I wanted to freak out. So... after we had been to the consulate and were just walking around the wharf she started off in some random direction... 45 min later I realized we had to meet our shuttle at in and out and she said "ok! Lets just walk 3 blocks this way (pointing in the OPPSITE direction of the wharf). That's is when I kinda snapped and took over. She was a little offended that I took over, but I REALLY tried to be kind about it, but I was NOT going to miss my flight home and get kicked off my mission because I was worried about her pride.

Our airconditioner doesn't work and so our room is about 80 degrees every night. Last night, with cold, I decided to sleep on the floor next to the window. I was hoping that I'd cool off.
I'm not going to the temple today. I don't want to give my cold to some cute little 92 year old worker my sickness. I am getting tested for H1N1, but I don't think I have it... If I do...I'll have Soeur Curran write you.

I have a picture for Bently Snow, can I get his parent's address. He is a really nice guy!
I'm glad that 4th was nice! Josh would run a dunking pond.

I'm doing my best to always keep the rules. Oh! At the French Consolate I got to see the Tour! Go team Basque! I pretty much have everyone cheering for them! Please let me know how they do!

I love you all lots!
Je vous Aime,
Soeur Hulet
